When I develop a website, I guide the web page owner on all aspects of the website design. This includes elements like look and feel, organization, navigation, SEO, performance, etc. However there are a number of additional elements that also affect the final website design:
- starting point – migration? refresh? complete new site?
- budget
- time to market
- availability of marketing collateral (images, diagrams, etc.)
- personal taste
Rather than simply providing a list of links, I wanted viewers to know the factors that influenced how a particular website took shape. I password protected the portfolio page to ensure the privacy of the website owners while being able to freely enumerate the various items that impact each site.
The final website design is an amalgamation of the customers requirements, constraints, and their personal preferences.
